Start Here!

If you’re like most people who land here, you’ve got a message burning in you — maybe it’s a story, maybe it’s a calling to lead well, maybe it’s both. You want to see people’s lives changed by whatever it is you were made to do and say.

I get it, because I live in both worlds. I’m a pastor and a financial advisor by calling — and a Western fiction writer who spends his early mornings in 1880s Wyoming Territory, chasing outlaws and wrestling with trust, hope, and redemption, and how those translate to the written page. Some days I’m counseling a family through a hard season. Some days I’m a few thousand words into a shootout. Both are the work God has given me to accomplish on this earth.

Maybe you’re overwhelmed by everything you’re trying to build. Maybe you’re a writer who’s stalled out, or a leader running on empty, or someone looking for a good story to escape into — and maybe you need a fresh idea for your life.

Is that you?

Good news — you’re not alone, and you’ve come to the right place. I’ve burned out in life and ministry. I’ve stared at a blank page and a blank calendar all in the same week. I’ve learned there’s no separating “my work” from “my craft.” Each feeds the other, or they both go dry.

My Goal Here:

Through this blog, my podcast, and the stories I write as J.B. Sisam, I want to give you tools for clarity, encouragement, and the occasional escape into a good story — so you find your voice, whether you’re leading a family, a ministry, or a manuscript.

A Note on AI

You may notice I write about AI from time to time — I use it as a tool in my process, the same way I’d use an editor or a research assistant, never as a ghostwriter. The voice, the story, and the faith woven through it are entirely mine. If you’re curious how I actually use AI in my writing process, I break it down on the J.B. Sisam Show, Episode 169: Is It Wrong to Use AI to Write and Edit Your Book?
