Everyone around us is living their lives forgetting that one day everything they know will come to an end. What people forget is that there is a life after the world comes to its end and that end is going to come rapidly and without warning. I believe that we are living in the beginning of the end or the beginning of sorrows that Jesus talked about in Matthew 24.

Jesus said that no man will know the day or the hour. But one thing we know, he will return and will return soon. This is something that pastors and leaders have been saying for years.

What are we to be looking for and how do we know what the signs and warning of his coming will be?

1.) Signs of the times

Matthew 24:3-14

We are seeing all around us a world that we never could have imagined. People are becoming lovers of themselves and not of God. 2 Tim. 3:2; “For men will be lovers of themselves, lover of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful and unholy.”

Elections are a good example of that. It is said that the vast majority of new registered voters between the ages of 18 – 30 are going to vote for popularity rather than issues or morality a lot don’t know what they believe in.

We are seeing a decline in church going people under the age of 25. It is said that within the next couple years there will only be less than one half percent of teenagers that will be born-again evangelical Christians.

We are seeing earthquakes in various places and countless people being killed because of them. Several countries are in a major drought and thus no crops – the bible calls that a famine. We see hurricanes causing havoc around the world, destroying cities. Tornados are wiping out entire towns across the Midwest and even in places that don’t get tornados.

Many false prophets will rise up and deceive many even the elect. Remember Todd Bentley (self-claimed prophet ) in Florida a few years back? Many signs and wonders followed his ministry but he has been in communication with an angel called Emma and said that it was through the angel that some of the prophecies came forth. He gave more glory to the angel than to Jesus Christ.

Look at what’s happening in the middle, Christians hare being killed for their belief in Christ.

Jesus warned us that these things must happen as a sign of his coming.

2.) The Day is coming

Matthew 24:29-44

Jesus said that he was going to come back. We need to live our lives with eternity in our mindset. We cannot live without knowing that Christ is coming back. We need to always be ready for His return. Jesus told the parable of the wise and foolish virgins.

The five who were wise had oil in their lamps when the bridegroom arrived. The other five did not and asked if they could borrow some, but were denied and had to remain outside the feast. The question we need to continually ask ourselves is, “what are we doing to prepare others for the return of Christ?”

It doesn’t matter what you believe when it comes to the rapture of the church, what really matters is that it will happen.

The midnight cry is that when Christ comes for the church it will not be a silent matter – the whole earth will see it. Matt. 24:30 We will see the Son of God coming in all His glory and the earth will shake because of it. Zech 14:3-5. The same mountain is repeated in Acts 1 – in regards to Christ’s return to the earth.

Revelation 19:11-16

He is the Lord God who will judge both the quick and the dead, we need to be ready, and if we are not sharing this news with others they will live in eternal damnation.

We have a calling to be a church without spot or wrinkle, and to be a church who has its priorities straight as to bringing people into the Kingdom of God. The day is coming and coming soon. We need to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, we need to pray for a moral leader in America. We are at a crossroads here in America and we need to begin praying that God’s will would be done here in our midst.
