ABOUT

JASON SISAM

If you’re like most people who find their way here, you’ve got something in you that wants out—a story, a message, a vision for the life you’re building. Maybe you’re a leader trying to be who your family or ministry needs. Maybe you’re a writer chasing a story that won’t leave you alone. Maybe, like me, you’re both.

Yet, something is missing. Maybe you’re overwhelmed by everything you’re trying to accomplish. Maybe your manuscript has stalled, or your calendar’s full but your creative well feels empty. Maybe you’re just looking for a fresh idea—for your next chapter, your next sermon, or your next season of life.

Does that sound familiar?

I know what failure feels like and how that sense of hopelessness takes root and simmers on the back burner of life. It’s easy to set goals and have the desire to be your best, but what happens when you don’t feel like your voice matters, or that you’re making an impact? I struggled for years trying to figure out what my message was and how to share my story with the world. So I gave up, until an author friend, Lois Walfrid Johnson, told me my story was worth telling.

Everything changed when she encouraged me to join a local writer’s guild and learn how to tell a story that tells God’s story. I’d grown up in the ministry, earned my Bachelor’s in Divinity (Theological Studies), and was ordained as a full-time minister in 2008. But I knew something was missing. My message was meant for more than just my local congregation.

That’s where my first book, Divine Providence, came from. It started me on a path I never expected: nearly a million words written since 2008, a podcast that’s grown to around 2,000 daily listeners, and a blog with roughly 15,000 monthly visitors. And somewhere along the way, I found a second creative life, writing Western fiction as J.B. Sisam, chasing frontier justice and redemption through my Jacob Creek Series.

famiyHi, my name is Jason Sisam. I am a financial advisor, blogger, ordained pastor, and author. I help frustrated and overwhelmed writers and leaders stay motivated with clarity, helping them find the tools they need to discover their voice and succeed in their family, ministry, and life.

My favorite thing to do is to be at home with my wife of 8 years. We married in 2012 in the beautiful Twin Cities area and we have two children; Amelia, Aaron, and our adorable puppy named Molly!

I was the operation’s pastor at Christian Family Church (formerly Life Church), a multi-ethnic, non-denominational congregation in the Twin Cities. I have been on staff for over 20 years. I started as a teenager and was looking for a simple job. The Lead Pastor, Alan Langstaff, was kind enough to give me my first job. That job, cleaning the bathroom stalls. For nearly 20 years, I worked side by side with my father, Dale Sisam, in ministry.

Through my years of service at the church, I have grown as a leader and have helped many people tap into their God-given potential. Many of those I’ve personally trained have gone on to help start churches or become influential leaders within the churches they attend.

Today, I am a financial advisor with Edward Jones, helping individuals find financial clairty, fulfill their dreams, so they can succeed in family, work and life.

In 2013, I joined the board of directors for the Minnesota Christian Writer’s Guild.  Over the last several years, we’ve helped writers fulfill their dream of becoming a published author. Our mission is the help writers live for God and write for others. My newest book, Focus: Up, In, and Out, is a short teaching book designed to help small group leaders find success as they lead and grow their groups. I have published 6 books and in several newspapers, The Huffington Post, More Than A Beard, LifeLine Magazine and more. In my free/spare time, I love to read, write and go fishing. I enjoy the great outdoors, so you’ll often find me doing yard work.

CAN I HELP YOU?

Maybe you feel stuck and you’re looking for a way to finally write that book, or start that blog you’ve always wanted. Maybe you simply are looking for ways to reconnect with God in a deeper way and take your leadership/personal development to the next level.

IS THAT YOU?

I have good news. You’re not alone. I’ve been there and I know a lot of other leaders and ministers who are in the same boat. It’s easy to burn the candle at both ends. It wears you out, brings you down.

I know how you feel. I grew up in the ministry and come from a long line of ministers. I’ve seen my parents run dry. I’m in the ministry and I’ve run dry at times.

It’s easy to have your health fail and falter because you’re pushing too hard or working too hard to accomplish the vision you have. If that’s you, this blog is just what you need. Think of it as a refreshing drink.
