Why do we press on when it’s hard to see fruit? Life is full of curveballs and we never know when one will be thrown. Life is full of victories, but we often forget them and settle back into the humdrum rhythm of life, wondering if we’ll get another victory. In today’s episode we’re going to look at what it takes to press through and see the fruit of our labor.

I want you to imagine with me. You’ve just begun your business, church or ministry. You’re excited about the future. You launch, and then crickets. Or maybe you launch and you see instant victory, then crickets. I know this feeling, because jbsisam.com feels that way. Now I know I’m being transparent, but I realize it takes time to see success and victory.

I want to give you three things that keep me moving forward when it feels like there’s no momentum.

In Today’s Episode:

1.) See the big picture:

This may be the number one reason that keeps me moving forward with this podcast and blog. I know that there are ministers and leaders who count on me each week. They want that next breath of fresh air to help them get through one more week. Sometimes all someone needs is a friend, and that’s who I want to be.

Vision is what causes us to see. This is where we put on the goggles of foresight and help others see where we’re going. This way they don’t have to guess and feel their way along.

People need leaders who are focused on the road ahead. It’s easy to become lax in what we do, but we must have our eyes focused on the prize of the upward call of God. The big picture is what creates safety and security for those who follow us. If they see us have things together and a big picture of where we want to be, they’ll help us get there.

2.) Have a Mission in Mind.

So many churches don’t have a solid mission. This is ultimately where we want to see people. My mission here at JBSISAM.COM is to help leaders succeed in their family, ministry and life by drawing near the heart of God. It’s in this drawing near to God that generates success. If I can help one leader become stronger in their family, ministry and life, I know that I’ve done my job.

Set a missional goal. We’re taking people on a journey with us. If no one is following, we’re taking a walk. We are called to lead. And that means to create a clear mandate for people to follow. When they understand where you’re taking them, they’ll follow.

3.) Invite people into the journey:

Transparency is the key here. I remember a post I did back in 2012, when I was talking about my foreclosure. People were shocked I was so transparent on my blog. But, if we are not in this place where people feel that we have the same struggles, they won’t feel we care. In other words, people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.

The goal here is to help people through their life journey. When we’re transparent, we are allowing other’s see a vulnerable side to our leadership. This enables people and strengthens them to know that if we can make it, so can they.
