Matthew [5:13]-16 – Click to read
We make choices everyday that affect our daily lives; where we eat for lunch, what we wear to work, how much am I going to spend of groceries or bills this month. We ask these questions to make a decision on what is the best course of action and way for us to go. Yet, many times we don’t realize is we’re making decisions that will also make a difference in our witness as believers in Christ. In some cases, it will affect the lives of those around us for eternity.
Jesus said that we are to be salt and light in the world. In order for us to be effective, we need to begin to think and act like we’ve never done before. The Message bible puts it this way, “You’re to be salt-seasoning that brings out the god-flavors of this earth…. You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world.”
Salt is a favorer; it brings out the flavor of the food we eat, it preserves food so it doesn’t spoil. How are we to be salt flavorer’s of the earth?
It begins with the help of the Holy Spirit, living and working within us to keep the flavor of God within us. As Jesus says in Matthew chapter 5 – we’re to examine our hearts, not compromising even on the littlest thing. Every compromise begins to consume our minds and spirits and will begin to erode our testimony we have in Christ – and it will be of no avail. One wrong choice can change our look to society and will begin to lead us down a path we were not intending to head towards.
If we are to be a city that is set on a hill, visible for the whole world to see and gaze upon, we need to be people who live lives with the Holy Spirit in control of our lives, guiding us – not us in control of the Holy Spirit.
To live a life of reckless abandon we are to give up completely to in a hasty and audacious way to our desire for God.

The Lord is calling us to live a life where we have given up our lives and ourselves to Him. In other words – the committed have climbed with Him. Matt. 5:1 (MSG) – click to read
Remember, when people see our good works, healing, prayer, kindness, word’s of knowledge, they will begin to ask questions about who God is. We want people to be inquisitive about who Jesus is. Our lives will become a becon of hope to those who need it the most – but it begins with us, our lives, through prayer, supplication and meditation in His word. If we want to be a people who do the will of the Lord we need to begin to spend time with him; fall in love with his Word and with Him. It’s time to press onward to the upward call of God we have in Christ Jesus and live a life of reckless abandon.
May the peace of the Lord Jesus guide you today and bless you.
In His service,
