I was recently on Facebook and happened to visit the LEFT BEHIND MOVIE page for updates or a new trailer. They posted this question….

Are any “Left Behind” fans planning to watch the premiere of “The Leftovers” on HBO this weekend? Have any of you read the book “The Leftovers”? Let us know what you think!

After researching this new HBO series I made this comment…

This is an abomination to the scriptures! This show will be filled with profanity, nudity and more…. it makes Christians look like crazies! And the official trailer shows oral sex and nudity! Stay away from this mockery of God’s Holy Word!

I felt I made my argument – not wanting to get into  a debate, but just stating my opinion. Here is the conversation that followed…

David Scarrow Maybe to your interpretation!! This show shows the REALISM of life and just a taste of what it will be like after the rapture. It did show that Gary Busy was missing! They made that a joke, but the real funny thing is– he is a born again Christian in real life!!

Jason N Kari Sisam The original book was written to make fun of the Word of God – in a sense to mock Christians and their faith in God. This is not my interpretation – As a pastor I cannot condone this series for it’s mockery of the Word of God, profanity and nudity.
Now, if someone comes to me asking questions because of this series, I will point them to the Word of God.The question I ask you… Should we endorse something that fills our spirit man with garbage or should we, as Paul states in Philippians 4:8-9; “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are PURE, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy–meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.”

Here’s the real question… is this show pure, virtuous and does it praise Christ? Does it allow us to see the miracle working power of God in the last days? Does it point someone to Jesus? Does it keep your mind from wandering into the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and the pride of life?

Jesus said for us to watch in the last days because there will be scoffers and false Christs’ working to deceive the many, even if possible the elect.Like the Noah movie, I know this preaches a false gospel an evil gospel devoid of the REAL Good News!

What do you think? Do you agree? Do you not agree? How would you have answered? Sound off below!
