HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

As I woke up this morning, I realized that 2014 is nearing its end. We are excited when each year begins, because it creates a new and fresh start for us. By the time we get to Thanksgiving, people are already in a frenzy over the latest Frozen Doll that’s out of stock at Target. They don’t care about giving thanks, they want the next big deal to go on sale mid-day Thanksgiving.

Have we come so far in the past 20-30 years that we cannot spend even one day with our family, not going out, not thinking about shopping – just being a family?

God has called us to praise Him in everything–no matter where we are at or how we are feeling.

King David in Psalm 150 says this; “Praise the Lord.” This is how he chose to open his song. This tells us it doesn’t matter what life throws our way, we praise. It doesn’t matter if our family has abused us, we praise. It doesn’t matter if we have a boss/supervisor who does what they can to get at our last nerve, we praise. It doesn’t matter if we forgot the cranberries, we praise.

God is calling His people to be people of praise. It is in our praise that we can truly be thankful for the blessings He has given us. We can be thankful for our job, our family, our spouse, our children, our church family, and the list goes on and on. We are called to praise Him in His mighty heavens. Praise Him for His acts of power, praise Him with… dancing.

It doesn’t matter how we choose to praise, we are called to praise the Lord. This Thanksgiving, don’t worry about the turkey being too dry, the stuffing being too soggy or the green bean hotdish not having enough crispy onions. Don’t worry about getting the latest Frozen item from Target. Don’t worry about getting in line at your favorite Apple Store when you should be spending that time with your loved ones.

We are called to praise, and this Thanksgiving praise the Lord and thank Him for his many blessings.

“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.

“PRAISE THE LORD!”
